About Me

My photo
I am a 30-something FORMER DINK (Double Income, No Kids) who welcomed our first child on August 1st, 2011 following many years of infertility. I am married to a wonderful (though somewhat work-a-holic) husband and daddy. This is my journal to help me stay sane through the trials of infertility, pregnancy and motherhood. We have unexplained infertility. After enduring IVF #1 failure, we miraculously became pregnant from FET #1, and we were overjoyed to welcome our little one August 1st of 2011.

Catch Up

I have been away for a long time here! OK, last weekend my parents came to visit. It was fun because they haven't yet seen our house here. Just to give you some background, the house we were able to buy as a result of someone else's misfortune was HUGE bang for the buck. We paid probably 75% of it's worth even in the market today, so it easily will be worth double once everything recovers and appreciation begins. In addition, when we moved from our previous home, it was a move out of state and the housing market is just different here, so our money buys us so much more home than it did in our old city. Even we were surprised at how awesome it is. Anyway, needless to say, they were very impressed and happy for us.

We had lots of fun while they were here, we took them to a few of our favorite restaurants, and showed off some of the sights in the area. We were able to go look at the boat, but not take it on the water since it was so windy. They had never seen our boat before, so that was fun too. Anyway, we caught up and had lots of nice chats and experiences and they wandered home on Monday.

The downside to them being here is we drank wine and ate italian/mexican/steaks, etc the whole time, so now I have some new habits to get into. I still had a bunch of the bad food in the house, and I'm not wasting it, so we will just have to work through that intermingled with healthy meals and snacks. In addition, I'm setting a new goal. I want to make sure that at least 2 days every week, I do not drink any wine. I've been getting in the habit of drinking a bit every night and even though it's not a lot, I want to reel it back in to avoid any habitual behavior starting.

Although this is an ongoing goal, I want to really focus on trying to move my body for 30 minutes each day. Yesterday I went for a very tough run (probably 45 minutes). It was great, but now I'm very sore. The day before, I spent 35 minutes on the elliptical machine. Tonight, since I'm sore, but don't want to give up the habit, I'm going to take the dog for a nice 30 minute walk.

On another note, my brother, who moved away a year ago from his home town to a city 800 miles from anyone he knows, has FINALLY found a girlfriend. It may be too soon to say it's serious, but he's bringing her home to meet mom in May, so it's a little serious.

That's it for now. No wine tonight and probably a salmon dinner.
